GFCF Support Group Meeting
Whether you’re just starting the gluten-free, casein-free diet or have been at it a while and feel like you’re stuck in a rut, you may be looking for new ideas about how to make it work for your family. Join us as we discuss some challenges and solutions for successful implementation of the diet. We’ll also have some GFCF items available for tasting. Try them yourself or take a taste home to your child!
The group will typically meet the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Camp Hill Giant (supper/snacks can be purchased in the marketplace; no outside food) for an opportunity to relax, talk with others in similar situations, and learn from each other. Topics will be determined by the needs of those involved, but will likely include food diaries, replacement ingredients, lunch ideas, recipe swaps, where to find specific foods, eating away from home, GFCF holidays, and more.
An outreach of ASD HOPE, the GFCF Support Group is facilitated by Joy Fasick, a mother who has seen tremendous improvements from her son’s two gluten-free, casein-free years and who also balances additional food allergies/restrictions in the family diet.
Please note that childcare will NOT be provided for these diet support meetings.
New Parent Seminar (Parent Chat)
At the meeting, we will distribute and discuss a booklet (recently revised and updated!) compiled by ASD HOPE parents who "wished we had this information when our child was first diagnosed." Mothers and fathers are encouraged to attend, as well as professionals who work in the field of autism. Please note that families and professionals who have been living and working with autism for many years have also found this to be a very beneficial program and a great opportunity to network and meet new people.
